Physiology, check.

Posted in Uncategorized at 1:23 pm by Peter Molnar

I had my first exam of the period today. Physiology. I passed thru the written part without much problem. I think only one person failed that today. Then in the oral part of the exam, i was there for a pretty long time. but made it through that too. The topic i was given was ‘Thyroid Hormones, pathways, mechanisms, and pathologies”. The Hungarian girl who was also being examined with me got “Female sex Hormones- discuss”. she failed. Our examiner was Dr. Peter Nanassi – so of course he didn’t only ask endocrine stuff – he always has a thing for the kidney, and managed to throw a few questions in about that. In fact, the girl failed on a kidney question, not a hormone question.

anyway – i’m really tired now and am going to sleep.

Next up, Biochem.

No light yet—

So – the fixer dudes were supposed to come yesterday to hook up my electrical metres. They didn’t come. They came today, but not to hook anything up, just to make sure, again, that they hook up will be possible. Apparently i must wait till tuesday for the next step.

It’s actually starting to get to me.

arrrgh!

Newspaper published, finally

Posted in FMSA at 9:04 am by Peter Molnar

So, yesterday, May 30th, the May 2nd issue of the paper finally came out. There are a few appearance issues with pixelated images and layout problems, but all in all, i’m happy with it.

I had a talk with Meirav (FMSA president) the other day, about this whole conflict we’re having with their new need to ‘approve’ my paper. I still feel it’s unnacceptable. I was accused of being childish and not being a team player, and threatened once again with being kicked out of the student association. That’s free speach for you. It turns out that they actually halted the printing and got the printer to send them a copy of the proofs to approve it before it rolled off the press.  It was ‘approved’, of course. This still doesn’t resolve the fundamental differences we have here. They are not editors.

Anyway, i’ve gotta get back to studying. I’ll deal with this next year.

Tomorrow, i may have light?

Posted in Lights Out, Stupid Ország at 8:55 am by Peter Molnar

So, i MAY have electricity tomorrow.. apparently the electrical guys are scheduled to re-install my meters. I’m not counting on it though.. The weather is supposed to be rainy all week- i guess that helps with studying. but i’m really in a good study mode, so i dont really need help with that.

Workers are also supposed to be coming to rebuild the stairs to my place. that’ll be really nice – but we’re in Hungary, so i expect that within 1 year, there’ll be nice big cracks in the cement again.

Continuing open conversation about the newspaper. Response to Mats.

Posted in FMSA at 2:04 am by Peter Molnar

I encourage you, in the name of press freedom and free speech, to
continue disseminating this conversation.
> Answer to Peter!
> Sorry Peter, but I need to correct you on your position!

I understand where you are coming from, but I’m afraid you are
mistaken. I need no correction on my position. As previous
vice-president, i was one of the architects of these latest fmsa
elections and positions. i believe therefore that i am sufficiently

Open answer to Peter! (from Mats Foshaug)

Posted in FMSA at 7:29 pm by Peter Molnar

Answer to Peter!Sorry Peter, but I need to correct you on your position!

Your goals are well and nice, but your role you have misunderstood! Yes, you are the editor, but if we(Meirav, Danni and me) didnt see the paper before it is released, it is by definition not the FMSA paper. It will be the Peter-paper.

The editor position does not give you the dictatorship of the paper. Look at us as the owners of

Open letter about the FMSA Newspaper

Posted in FMSA at 5:02 pm by Peter Molnar

An Open Letter to board and other members of the FMSA, and any other
interested parties at the university of debrecen medical school

Misunderstanding of roles about my position as editor of the FMSA newspaper.

The latest (and last for this year) edition of the FMSA newspaper has
been sent to the printers.

This has resulted in a very surprising backlash toward me about not
having it ‘approved’ by the president and vice president(s?) for
publication before it was sent off. I must make my positoin clear that

Back in Debrecen

Posted in Lights Out, Stupid Ország at 9:47 am by Peter Molnar

(NOTE: i screwed somthing up when editing the side bar, so for some reason the links dissapeared and it just says ‘themes’.. ill see if i can fix it when i have time…)

Well, after a really nice few days with relatives, im back in debrecen – without electricity. I came back to find my place in a total mess (i left it that way – but it really sucks to have a messy place), and to find that my flowers doubled in size on my porch, AND that they ripped the wall open in my WC. There’s some wiring issue, apparently, that had to be fixed before they could re-attach my electricity meters.. total bs, if you ask me – cuz they were on fine before… anyway – there is now construction going on on my place, and a hole in my wall.

I got a letter (well, the address got a letter) that the wheels are in motion, i should have power within 30 days. Yup. a month – i might even be gone by that time – which is great because they’ll hook me up just in time to get me to pay the electrical fees while i dont even live here for the summer. argh…

A MESSAGE TO EGGERT (and anybody else who has a sony-ericsson i700k):

(in response to your comment from the previous post): yeah – there IS a light function- go to the camera/video feature and press 5.

WOOHOO – LIGHT!

Posted in Lights Out, Törökbálint at 8:10 pm by Peter Molnar

If you’ve been following my ‘blackout’ situation, you might think that they’ve reconnected my power. Sadly, that’s not the case. As far as that goes, im still in the dark.

What i mean by LIGHT, is that i just found out, after having this particular mobile phone (sony ericsson i700k, if that happnes to matter to you) for a little under a year now, that it has a flashlight in it – and a very bright one at that! It’s part of the camera function. That’s what you get for letting a 2 year old press all the buttons on your phone. As i think back, there’ve been lots of situations when i definately could have used a light over the past months… and this comes in especially handy with my current situation.

Hans Horrevoets

Posted in Yachting at 1:09 pm by Peter Molnar

My heart goes out to Hans’ family. I didn’t know him, but it could have happened to any number of my friends. The yacht-racing community is a very small and close one. This could have happend to any one of us who’ve raced offshore. Everybody please be very careful out there…
